“Persistent Prayer” Matthew 7:7–11 (Stephen Field)

Canterbury Baptist Church Episode 82

We commonly experience prayer as a passive exercise, sitting quietly with our eyes closed and head bowed. But Jesus teaches that prayer is active. He uses the images of “asking,” “seeking,” and “knocking” to describe the kinds of prayers He is inviting us to pray. And He does this with the assurance that we pray to a good Father, a God who knows how to give good gifts to His children. In today’s sermon we consider how we can ask, seek, and knock in prayer, the ways God gives good gifts, and how to pray when God does not answer our prayers.
