“Being an Asset-Building Church” Mark 2:1–12 (Rev. Natalie Dixon-Monu)
Show Notes

Rev. Natalie Dixon-Monu from Boroondara Community Outreach (BCO) joins us today. Using the story of the four men who carried their paralysed friend to Jesus, even having to dig a hole through the roof to get him to Jesus, Natalie leads us to consider how we can be such a friend to those who have needs around us. She particularly draws our attention to the needs in our own community—both from those who appear affluent and those whose needs are more open. And Natalie challenges us not to look at people with needs simply through a "deficit model"—that is, asking what their problems are and how we can fix them. Instead, she asks us to consider how we can build "assets" into people's live, assets such as "joy," and "community," and "connection."
